From self-awareness and exploration to decision-making, preparation and ongoing navigation, Nawiri walks alongside young people, families and schools through the different stages of career development.
Our approach brings together career science, human experience, reflection and practical guidance—because meaningful career decisions require more than a test, a list of careers or a one-time career talk.
Nawiri Career Enhancement Services helps young people understand who they are, discover what is possible, make informed choices and develop the confidence and capabilities to navigate an evolving world of work.
We believe career development should begin long before a student is asked, “What do you want to be?”
It begins with a deeper question:
Nawiri was born from years of working with young people in education.
For over a decade, our founder, Patricia Kuria, worked as an educator, teaching and mentoring high school students. She encountered bright young people with enormous potential but limited opportunities to understand themselves, explore the world of work and make informed decisions about their future.
Too often, career decisions were shaped by examination grades, subject combinations, parental expectations or limited exposure to what was possible.
The problem was not a lack of potential. It was a lack of clarity, context and intentional guidance.
This led to a deeper conviction: career guidance should not be a last-minute intervention before university applications. It should be a developmental journey that grows with the young person.
And so, Nawiri was born.
Nawiri means to thrive in Kiswahili. It reflects our belief that career development is about more than choosing a job. It is about helping young people understand their gifts, make purposeful choices, develop their capabilities and contribute meaningfully through the work they eventually do.
Career clarity begins with identity.
Before asking “What career should I choose?”, we help young people explore:
We do not believe an assessment should determine a person’s future. We use assessment as one source of insight, alongside reflection, conversation, experience and an understanding of the changing world of work.
At Nawiri, we see career development as a journey, not a single decision.
Our work is built around the Nawiri Career Journey™:
Discover — Understand yourself.
Explore — Discover what is possible.
Connect — Experience the world of work.
Decide — Make informed choices.
Prepare — Build readiness for what comes next.
Navigate — Adapt and continue growing.
This framework enables career conversations to happen progressively, rather than only when a major decision is approaching. It is the foundation through which we support individuals, families and schools.
We walk alongside young people through six stages of career development, recognising that their needs evolve as they grow and encounter new opportunities.
We combine structured career assessments with reflection, conversation and an understanding of the changing world of work. We see the person beyond the test results.
We help parents and young people have more constructive career conversations, moving from pressure and uncertainty towards understanding, informed choices and shared confidence.
We do not prescribe a future for your child. We help them discover possibilities, make informed decisions and develop the confidence to navigate their own journey.
We look beyond grades and subject combinations to understand each young person's strengths, interests, values, aspirations and circumstances.
To be the trusted home of career clarity - empowering students, parents, and institutions with transformative tools, guidance, and partnerships that turn uncertainty into confidence and potential into thriving futures.
OUR MISSION
To see every young person stepping into the future with clarity, confidence, and purpose, becoming a generation of leaders who thrive locally and contribute globally.
OUR VISION
Nawiri grew out of Patricia’s journey from educator to career development practitioner.
Her more than a decade in education taught her that teaching is not only about imparting knowledge. It is about recognising potential, listening carefully and helping young people make sense of who they are becoming.
Her own journey has also shaped her understanding of career development. A childhood passion for Spanish eventually opened a path into education, demonstrating firsthand how an interest can become an unexpected doorway to opportunity.
Today, Patricia combines her experience as an educator with formal training in career guidance and development to help young people and the adults supporting them approach career decisions with greater clarity and intention.
Her work is grounded in a simple conviction:
No young person should have to make life-shaping career decisions without the opportunity to understand themselves, explore what is possible and receive meaningful guidance.
Patricia
Nawiri is her response to that conviction—and part of a wider vision to make career development an intentional part of how young people grow, learn and prepare for their future.
