The Nawiri Career Journey™
Wherever You Are, There’s a Place to Begin.
Career development is not a one-time decision. It is a journey of understanding yourself, discovering possibilities, making informed choices and preparing to navigate an ever-changing world of work.
At Nawiri Career Enhancement Services, we walk alongside young people, families and schools through a structured, six-stage process that makes career development more intentional, meaningful and manageable.
Whether you are exploring interests, choosing subjects, considering courses, preparing for further education or navigating your next career move, the Nawiri Career Journey™ helps you identify where you are and take your next step with greater clarity.
Six Stages. One Journey Towards Career Clarity.
Every young person’s journey is different. Some begin by discovering their strengths; others need to explore career options, make an important decision or prepare for what comes next.
The six stages provide a structured pathway. You do not have to figure everything out at once. You simply need to know your next step.
STAGES

STAGE 1: NAWIRI DISCOVER ™– “Who am I?”
Self-awareness: strengths, interests, values, motivations, personality and potential. Before choosing a career, understand the person who will pursue it. Discover helps young people develop self-awareness by exploring their strengths, interests, values, motivations and potential. This provides a foundation for making choices that reflect who they are, rather than relying on grades, assumptions or other people’s expectations alone. Outcomes:
- What am I naturally good at?
- What interests and motivates me?
- What matters to me?
- What strengths and potential can I develop?

STAGE 2: NAWIRI EXPLORE ™ – “What could I become?”
Careers, industries, pathways, emerging opportunities, labour-market trends. Once you begin to understand yourself, the next step is to discover the opportunities available to you. Explore introduces young people to careers, industries, courses, qualifications and education pathways. It broadens perspectives beyond familiar professions and helps connect personal interests and strengths to real opportunities. Outcomes:
- What careers and industries are available?
- What do different professionals actually do?
- Which courses and qualifications lead to different pathways?
- What opportunities might I not have considered?

STAGE 3: NAWIRI CONNECT ™ – “What is the world of work really like?”
Professionals, industry exposure, conversations, workplace insight. Career information becomes more meaningful when young people encounter the people and environments behind it. Connect creates opportunities to learn from professionals, engage with industries and gain exposure to the realities of different careers. It helps bridge the gap between what a career sounds like and what it actually involves. Outcomes:
- What is a typical day like in this career?
- What skills and experiences does the work require?
- What challenges and opportunities do professionals encounter?
- How can I gain first-hand exposure?

STAGE 4: NAWIRI DECIDE ™ – “What direction makes sense for me?”
Subjects, pathways, courses, institutions and career options. With greater self-awareness, knowledge of available options and real-world insights, young people can begin making thoughtful decisions. Decide helps them compare alternatives, consider requirements and constraints, weigh priorities and identify pathways that align with their strengths, interests, values and circumstances. Outcomes:
- Which options align with who I am and what matters to me?
- What are the entry requirements and implications of each option?
- What are the advantages, limitations and alternatives?
- What is my next best step, and why?

STAGE 5: NAWIRI PREPARE ™ – “What do I need to do next?”
Skills, applications, CVs, networking, university preparation, employability. Clarity becomes valuable when it leads to practical action. Prepare helps young people identify the knowledge, skills, qualifications and experiences needed to pursue their chosen direction. It translates decisions into achievable steps, supporting readiness for further education, training, employment or other opportunities. Outcomes:
- What qualifications and requirements do I need to meet?
- Which skills and experiences should I develop?
- What applications, projects or practical steps should I prioritise?
- How can I prepare for the opportunities ahead?

STAGE 6: NAWIRI NAVIGATE ™ – “What happens when things change?”
Reassessment, transitions, changing interests, academic setbacks, career pivots. Career development does not end when a student chooses a course, joins an institution or secures a job. Navigate helps young people develop the adaptability, self-management and decision-making skills needed to manage transitions, respond to change and continue growing throughout their working lives. Outcomes:
- How can I manage transitions and unexpected changes?
- How do I recognise new opportunities?
- How can I keep learning and developing my capabilities?
- How can I make thoughtful decisions as my circumstances change?
